Abstract: Short biographies of the great Muslim Imāms and the four orthodox caliphs. It contains the lives of Abū Ḥanīfah 699-767, Mālik ibn Anas 713-795, al-Shāfiʻī 767-820 and Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal 780-855, after which occurs a section on the love of God followed by one on the virtues of the four orthodox caliphs. This is followed by a section on the asceticism of Abū ʻAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn al-Ḥākī, one on the excellences of ʻĀshūrāʼ, one on the birth of the Prophet, one on prayer and a section on the death of the Prophet.
