But in Pertsch, Die orientalischen handschriften der Herzoglichen bibliothek zu Gotha, 173; Rieu, Supplement of the catalogue of the Arabic Mss, 712/3, Catalogue des manuscrits arabes de la Bibliothèque Nationale, 2334/5 and Ahlwardt, Verzeichnis der arabischen Handschriften, 8859 the authorʼs name is given as Jamāl al-Dīn Abū ʻAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Qazwīnī, A.H. 527 A.D. 1132/3. In Catalogus codicum manuscriptorum orientalium (1846), 746 it is only al-Qazwīnī al-Shāfiʻī. In Ḥājjī Khalīfah, Kashf al-ẓunūn (1835-58), VI, p. 42 and in Cairo Catalogue VII, p. 701 the book is ascribed to ʻʻbaʻḍ mutaʼakhkhirī fuḍalāʼ al-Maghāribahʼʼ. Whatever his name, the author in all likelihood lived in the first half of the sixth century of the Hijrah and wrote sometime after A.H. 527 A.D. 1132/3, for on folio 603a he quotes Khālid ibn Abī al-Qāsim ʻAlī ibn Yaʻlá and speaks of him as dead. A traditionist of that name went to Qazwīn in A.H. 523 A.D. 1128/9, stayed there some years and died A.H. 527 A.D. 1132/3. See Ibn al-Athīr, vol. XI, p.5.
