The correspondence concerns the re-employment opportunities for British Indian Political Service (IPS) officers in the Persian Gulf in the run-up to the transfer of power and Indian independence in 1947. The papers relate to opportunities in the home Civil, Foreign and Colonial services (ff. 1-4), the British Military Administration in the Middle East and East Africa (f. 38) and short-term provisional appoitnments to the United Kingdom High Commissioner's staff (f. 83).
