- The file contains correspondence between Ronald Giles Daubeny (Secretary to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf) and Major Tom Hickinbotham (Political Agent, Bahrain) concerning a memorandum from the Government of India, External Affairs Department that was circulated to all its departments at home and overseas, for information. The memorandum debarred two Anglo-Indian clerks, formerly employed in the Persian Gulf Residency Office, from further employment in any Government of India post, on the grounds that they had left the Residency without reasonable cause.The file also contains a sample blank resignation form requiring future clerks to give one month’s advanced written notice of resignation, as a condition of their employment as an Indian Government servant.1 file (7 folios)File papers are arranged chronologically.The foliation sequence commences at the front cover and terminates at the back cover; these numbers are written in pencil, and can be found in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.
